A big increase in break-ins across the region is contributing towards a flood of new burglar alarm business enquiries for Keybury Security Systems.

The company reports that the credit crunch, coupled with the return of darker nights, has resulted in much higher levels of burglaries – a trend being seen right across Keybury's operational heartlands in Airedale, Craven and Wharefdale.

Managing director Frank Gee said: “We have statistics which prove there has been an increase in break-ins over the last three months and are extremely busy handling enquiries for new intruder alarm installations, notably from people who have suffered burglaries. It is an unfortunate sign of the times.”

The company has in place a programme offering help and advice to people worried about effective security provision and their personal safety.

Mr Gee warned: “We are concerned that the public may be tempted by the ‘too good to be true' offers which some alarm companies are promoting – for example, a system which is guaranteed for five years, but only costs £200 is likely to find the supplier going bust long before the guarantee expires.

“The customer is then left with no support should any problems occur.  Our best advice to the public is to use an intruder alarm company that has top-tier ‘gold' installer approval from our industry body, the National Security Inspectorate (NSI).”

Keybury, with offices in Keighley, Skipton and Ilkley, holds NSI gold certification and has a low-cost introductory intruder alarm package for new customers in the domestic sector.
